LLDPE has a density of about 0.915-0.925 g/cm3. It is a straight chain polymer with a considerable amount of short branched chain, mainly produced by copolymerization between ethylene and short chain alpha oleifins such as 1-butene, 1-hexene, 1-octen.
LLDPE has a higher tensile strength than LDPE, it is more resistant to impact and puncture than LDPE. Compared with LDPE, it is possible to blow thinner film with better resistance to the destructive effects of the environment but it is not easy to process.
LLDPE is used to produce special packaging films for bags and sheets. LLDPE is preferred for use in films because of its toughness, flexibility and relative transparency.
